Scheduling Appointments - We're concerned about missing school or work, and therefore schedule appointments so that each patient receives a fair share of convenient appointments. This approach allows us to minimize the number of appointments, which are necessary during school or work hours. Your time and convenience are important to us.
We're Available When You Need Us - While orthodontic emergencies are rare, we still maintain round-the-clock emergency coverage with a pager. You'll get prompt attention to your needs and concerns — even at night and on weekends. Dr. Monacell's home phone number is (804) 741-7429. Our pager number is (804) 750-7001.
Orthodontic Laboratory - Many of the necessary laboratory procedures are done in-house and supervised by Dr. Monacell. This assures exceptional levels of quality control and the convenience and importance of fast turnaround times.
Our Commitment to Continuing Education - Through a combination of post graduate courses, study group involvement, and reviews of the latest research, Dr. Monacell and the staff maintain a cutting-edge approach to advances in orthodontics. Orthodontics is not part of what we do; it's all that we do.
Our Commitment to You - More than half of our patients are referred by other enthusiastic patients and parents. We intend to treat you so well, that you too will feel comfortable in recommending us to your family and friends. As part of our practice, you'll be in good company. We're proud of the number of the area dentists, physicians, and their families who are among our patients. Our patients and parents are the most important part of our practice.
Our patients and their families have a lot to smile about!
Office Hours
We see patients in our Hanover office on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. We see patients in our Sandston office on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Patients are scheduled to be seen from 7:30am to 4:30pm.
Scheduling Appointments
We try to have convenient appointment times and accommodate all of our patient needs. The majority of adjustment appointments are relatively short, 10-20 minutes, and are done during the early morning or late afternoon. Longer appointments are scheduled later in the morning or earlier in the afternoon.
Your First Visit
At the first visit to Dr. Monacell, diagnostic records are made to determine the best course of treatment. Complete diagnostic records typically include medical/dental history, a clinical examination, digital photographs of the patients face and teeth, study models, bite records, and necessary x-rays. This information is used to develop a custom treatment plan for each patient. These records are also helpful in tracking the progress of treatment as the teeth move under orthodontic care.
Regular Appointments
The appointment when you get your appliances (braces, expanders, etc.) usually takes a couple of hours. You'll then see us at regular intervals, generally 7-8 weeks apart, to make adjustments and monitor your progress. Patients are seen by appointment only. We make every effort to be on time for our patients, and ask that you extend the same courtesy to us. If you cannot keep an appointment, please notify us immediately. Cancel only if it is an emergency. It is difficult to reschedule you since most appointments are made 7-8 weeks in advance.
Payment & Office Policies
Cost - The cost of treatment depends on the severity of the patient's problem. You will be able to discuss fee and payment options before treatment begins. We have payment plans to suit different budgets, including a no-down-payment option. Also, we are willing to accept assignment from many insurance plans, and file the necessary papers to the insurance company. We work hard to make orthodontics affordable.
Fees - Dr. Monacell feels that you or our child should receive the same quality conscious care that he would provide a member of his own family. That's why we arrange flexible payment options, so you can get the level of care that you or your child deserves. In an effort to keep orthodontic fees down while maintaining the highest level of professional care, we have established this financial policy: If full payment is made at the onset of treatment, we will offer a bookkeeping courtesy of 5%. To fit your individual needs, financial arrangements can be made to extend your payments over a period of months. For your convenience, we offer automatic bank draft and we also accept payments by Visa and Mastercard, as well as cash or checks. In cases of serious delinquency, treatment will be discontinued, although we will make every effort to accommodate patients with temporary difficulties.
Insurance - If you have insurance, we will help you to determine the coverage you have available. We are willing to accept assignment of your insurance benefit. The balance will be arranged for you to pay. Professional care is provided to you, our patient, and not to an insurance company. Thus, the insurance company is responsible to the patient and the patient is responsible to the doctor. We will help in every way we can in filing your claim and handling insurance questions from our office on your behalf.
New Technology
Dr. Monacell strives to provide patients with the best care possible. He and the staff attend many continuing education courses so that they can keep up with the fast-paced changes of orthodontics. We are equipped with laptops at every station and we have the latest technology in archwires and brackets to keep our patients in as little treatment time as possible.
